Boron nitride in sintering technology

In sintering technology, components are compacted and shaped at temperatures of up to 2200 °C. In this process, chemical reactions, friction, and thermal stress interact directly.
Traditional materials such as graphite, aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃), or zirconia (ZrO₂) often cannot meet these requirements. Products made of hexagonal boron nitride, however, can! They combine reliable release properties, longer service life, and clean processing under extreme process conditions.

Typical applications:

  • Boron nitride carrier plates, charging plates, and crucibles
  • Coating of sintering molds, press dies, and support systems
  • Separating and protective layers in the manufacture of high-performance ceramics, cemented carbides, or powder metallurgy components
  • Boron nitride powder and additives for optimizing flow behavior and reducing friction during compaction
  • Embedding powder as a loading aid

Our Boron Nitride Recommendations

Advantages of Boron Nitride in Sintering Technology

  • Reliable prevention of buildup and reactions
  • Longer service life of tools and molds
  • Clean processes free of contaminants or reaction residues
  • Precise shaping due to low friction, ensuring uniform compaction and high dimensional accuracy
  • No reaction with sintered metal or ceramic materials due to chemical resistance
  • Thermal process stability
